Veterinary Practice Management has been a passion of mine for more than 20 years. I enjoy working with managers to enhance their practice's personnel, financial and organizational management structures. Having the opportunity to work with managers day in and day out keeps me motivated and excited about management for the veterinary industry.

I work with many managers that are making a difference and I find that these individuals have so much potential and drive to be extraordinary managers. They are seasoned, talented and really bright. Many of them are new to the veterinary field and many others have been a steadfast in their practice for years. As I work with these individuals, I am amazed at how few Certified Veterinary Practice Managers (CVPM) there are worldwide. According to the Veterinary Hospital Manager's Association there are less than 160 active CVPMs. My goal is to work with and support managers to become certified in the field of veterinary practice management.

Managers play an active role in the success and life of a veterinary practice. They devote long hours of dedication and many years of service to this profession. If you are an active manager and are committed to this industry long term, I encourage you to look into the process to become a certified veterinary practice manager. You work hard and you deserve the designation and distinction that comes with being certified and acknowledged in our field.

I personally feel that many managers and owners are unaware of this wonderful opportunity for managers and educating and informing every manager and owner that I come in contact has become a personal goal and yet another passion for me. I wish there were more managers that have completed the necessary requirements for this accomplishment. If you are wondering how you find out more information about the organization that oversees the examination and certification process, I encourage you to visit www.vhma.org. You will find helpful and resourceful information about this association and the CVPM process and examination.

The benefits of becoming certified range from personal gratification to being professionally accomplished. The amount of study and preparation that comes with the process is well worth it and will make any manager feel that much more successful in their daily role.

Invest the time and energy needed to achieve this professional goal whether you are new to the field of veterinary medicine or have been loyal for many years. You deserve it and our profession deserves to have more certified veterinary practice managers nationally as well as internationally. Go out there and make it happen!
